Who can register for CTH sessions?

CTH primarily serves afterschool and homeschool students in the North Dallas area. Tutelage sessions are available for families with students attending public and/or private school.

Where are the tutelage sessions held?

CTH sessions are held at local public buildings such as libraries across North Dallas. Families wishing to have pre-arranged students in groups usually hold CTH sessions at the home of one of the families.

What time are sessions usually held?

Homeschool students are typically taught throughout the morning and early afternoon.

After-school students (public and private school students) are taught throughout the evening, Monday thru Thursday 3pm - 8:30pm. Times and days availabilities my change based on demand.

See our "Services" pages for more information.

What can my child expect during a tutorial session?

Student materials are used to introduce and reinforce new learning concepts and to help to access mastery.

Academic success is due to how the instructor guides the group learning and not the materials!

Students are asked to read aloud, engage in discussion for understanding and clarity, and to define unfamiliar vocabulary words. They are encouraged to answer and ask questions, identify literary devices, and display written textual evidence to questions. These strategies help to identify and strengthen any areas of academic weakness.

How do I schedule my student's tutelage session?

Families can schedule tutelage sessions by the following steps:

  1. Texting or Calling to inquire of services.

  2. Complete the Contact Us form and pay registration fee by Zelle using student's name.
  3. Review your student's schedule options under the appropriate Services or School Year Schedule Options page.
  4. We will reachout to you within 3 business days to discuss your scheduling options.
  5. Confirmation of registered day, time, and prepayment total will be sent to you via email or text.

What if I need to reschedule my student's session?

A session may be rescheduled any time WITH a 24 hour notice  WITHIN the current quarter semester (9-weeks) of prepayment. Rescheduling is subject to session availability and staffing.

NO refund outside of cancellation policy or reschedule for NO shows less than a 24 hour cancellation notice.

What is the cancellation policy?

Those wishing to cancel single sessions are required to notify CTH via email or text 24 hours in advance or will be considered a "No Show" without the option to reschedule.

A 100% refund for the unused sessions in the package will be issued if CTH is notified of the cancellation via email 24 hours before the second scheduled session.

A 75% refund of your unused session package will be issued if CTH is notified of the cancellation via email 24 hours before the fourth scheduled session.

No refund will be issued if a family fails to notify CTH of session package cancellations before the above stated deadlines. Families whose students who fail to show for their scheduled session(s) will not be refunded for that session, and CTH will not be held responsible for rescheduling.

What if my child registers late (after the school year begins) for the academic year?

If you register late, after the expiration special date, you will not be eligible for the tutorial special.

You can take advantage of the discount next year. There will be no refund.

  2. Writing Composition
  3. Math
  4. Standardized Test Prep

What if my child is struggling in a subjects in a group sessions?

Students are assessed continuously in their groups. If the teacher identifies a need that cannot be addressed in the group, they will be asked to attend one-on-one sessions or a specific subject tutelage group.

Can my child bring school homework to complete in groups?

We do not do students' homework. Instead, we encourage them to utilize the after or before school help from their teacher.

Can I register in a group without doing the STAAR simulation?

Every student in group tutorials are encouraged to take the simulation test. The test is one of the many assessment tools used for preparing your child academically to be familiar with the strategies needed for STAAR or any standardized test. In addition, simulation tests help to lessen test anxiety and improve testing results, especially when students are exposed to different methodologies of testing. The simulation participation doesn't not guarantee the student mastery of concepts or makeup for academic deficiencies throughout the school year.

What if my student has a conflict with the STAAR Simulation Test date?

Students are given several testing dates for the STARR simulation test. Depending on the student's grade, they will take anywhere from 2-3 tests. The sessions are 3.5-4 hours long. Whether the child completes ALL tests or not depends on the parents' commitment to the testing dates. There will be no opportunities to make-up, reschedule, or receive a refund. Please note the testing dates will be on Sundays between the last week in January and the last week in March. Specific times are to be announced.

Can my child be placed in group sessions if they require special accommodations or modifications?

We strongly recommend starting with one-on-one tutelage to address your child's specific needs. Then a re-assessment will be given for placement in a tutorial group, if possible.

Why a prepayment is required?

Prepayment for tutorials holds parents and teachers to a commitment in making our students learning a priority.  It assures retention of certified and qualified teachers with school experience and knowledge

that are ready and willing to assist. Prepayment implies that teachers are valued and respected for their time and effort.  Thus, if a student is a no show, absent without a 24 hour notice, business can still continue.

What curriculum do you use or follow?

CTH is unique in its approach to learning. We are concept and strategy driving. Students individually progress to cover learning concepts that are required for their grade. They are introduced to reading  strategies that can be incorporated in all courses. They are giving a spiral curriculum approach to learning that allows learning beyond school grade level with continuous evaluation for mastery.
